U9-U17 MCLAC Relay Policy

Relays are the only opportunity for Melton City athletes to compete as a team. Relays are not just for the fastest runners, they are a team event which is open to all registered Melton City athletes aged U9-U17.

Parents are to complete & submit an expression of interest form on behalf of their athlete and need to be able to commit to both Region & State event  should team progress from Region).

Melton City Little Athletics coaching team will make all attempts to provide an opportunity to run for all athletes that register their interest. However, A team selections will be based upon athletes (current season) fastest times or 100m, 200m & 400m, proficiency in relay race technique (baton exchange & change over), athlete’s attitude and attendance at training. Final selections will be determined by the coaching team.

There are 2 relay events during the 2023/2024 track & field season, WMR Region Relay Carnival and if teams qualify, State Relay Championships.

Events:

4x100m (U9-U17: Male/Female/Mixed Sex)
